What Chopin knew about pedaling...

Hey there,

One of the things we talked about a fair amount yesterday was pedaling.

It was a big part of Chopin's playing and a big part of his teaching. It's really crucial to know how to pedal well to make a beautiful sound.

I just released a new video about pedaling on YouTube that you can check out here.

And believe it or not, even though this is a very long video with lots of musical examples, I have a lot more to say about pedaling.

So I’m going to do a workshop inside the membership on Saturday, May 17, at 9am, where we’ll dive even deeper into the secrets of artistic pedaling.

If that’s something you’re interested in, why don’t you consider checking out the seven-day free trial of Piano with Rebecca B?

Here's what's inside.

Personalized repertoire and fingering guidance. Get thoughtful suggestions based on your level and goals—so you always know what to play and how to approach it.
Monthly accountability challenges. Stay motivated with a fresh focus each month. Complete the challenge, and you’ll be entered to win a private lesson.
Live performance workshops every month, by popular request. Share your music in a supportive space and build confidence through regular, low-pressure performance opportunities.

Don’t worry about making the wrong decision. If you don’t like it and you accidentally forget to cancel the seven-day free trial, I’m happy to give you your money back.

I want to have a great vibe in the community. I don’t want anybody in there who doesn’t want to be there. So I just want to make it as easy as possible for you to consider checking it out.

The other thing to know about making the decision is that this price will only last through May 8. Then I’m going to close the doors again. When I reopen, I’ll probably test a higher price.

So check it out now, okay? I'd love to have you.

Warmly,

Rebecca

P.S. And….don’t forget to download your workshop goodies

Hi there, I debated whether to share this video at all. The camera is shaky. The orchestra isn’t great. But I’m so proud of the piano playing—and in the end, that’s what mattered most. This is my live performance of Rhapsody in Blue.I first learned the piece when I was 12 for a local piano competition (which I didn’t win!). But I still remember the bright blue skirt I made myself—and how I completely fell in love with the music. For this performance, I studied Gershwin’s own piano roll...
